The maiden meeting of the Manet Chapel Couples Fellowship was an inaugural dinner on the 13th May 2001. Though it rained heavily, 36 couples defied the rains to be part of it. The majority of the couples were from the Ridge where the fellowship started. The Ridge Fellowship also provided a lot of support in kick starting the Manet branch.
Very Rev. William Mpere Gyekye, the Methodist minister did the inauguration and Mrs. Stephanie Baeta- Ansah gave the inaugural address. Auntie Stephanie is seen as a great model for us, having combined a high achievement in her career and marriage, a problem the younger folk see as a lurking challenge. She promised being a great support for the Fellowship. The first few couples included Moses & Elizabeth Tetteh, Nick & Genevieve Attakuma, Robert & Evelyn Sam, Ken & Regina Sam and Kofi and Doreen Ankama-Asamoah. Most of these couples used to take part in the Ridge fellowship activities and desired to continue benefiting in Manet. Isaac & Joy Ashong and Alex & Ophelia Ayeh were the main regular resource persons who led the discussions of the fellowship on many topics including Marriage, Marriage Vows, Communication, Finances, In-Laws, Parenting, Teenage Children, Sex, Emotional Needs of your Spouse, Family Devotion etc. The Manet Couples Fellowship also regularly took part in some monthly, quarterly meetings as well as couples weekends away from home, organized by the Ridge Fellowship. Our number continues to grow with some old couples as well as newly married couples living in the neighborhood. Some of our members are not members of the Ridge Church. And there is still room for more. Our meetings have mostly been in the Manet Chapel but have also rotated to our homes, for example, during house warming or birthday parties. Our members continue to learn many invaluable subjects applicable immediately or stored for a rainy day just as how consultants teach professionals for improvement. We gain biblical insights and counsel (proverbs 11:14), biblical strength (2 Corinthians 1:14) and Godly support (psalm 118:8) and wait to share that with all. |
